Family fury as joyride death crash cop gets 6 years
A cop who killed a gran on a 104mph joyride was branded an “immature boy racer” after he was jailed yesterday. Pc Malcolm Searles, 24, tore through busy streets in the marked patrol car using his blue flashing lights and siren to deliver an 18th birthday card to his sister.
Searles, who initially claimed he was chasing a speeding stolen car when the accident happened, was sentenced to six-and-a-half years yesterday.
My question to the IPCC, the Police and the courts is this;
‘why wasn’t he prosecuted for ‘perverting the course of justice’? If PC Malcolm Searles tried to cover his tracks by lying, this should have warrented additional prosecution. But yet again the Maverick cops of the Metropolitan Police are permitted to ‘have a go’ at lying their way out of the situation. As they know full well as in this case, when he’s caught red handed lying, they will not face prosecution. I guess lying must just be par for the course.
